Cocaine offender sentenced to 15 years

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

Federal prosecutors report that a Callaway man was sentenced Monday to 15 years in prison from his plea agreement on charges of conspiring to distribute cocaine and being a felon in possession of ammunition.

The charges against 27-year-old Larray Anthony "Ray Ray" Maddox stemmed from a drug operation in 2007 and 2008, the U.S. Attorney's Office reports, which involved converting cocaine into crack cocaine and selling it to customers in Leonardtown and Lexington Park.

St. Mary's sheriff's investigators accompanied by other law officers carried out raids seizing more than $5,000, ammunition, drug packaging material, digital scales and a microwave oven containing cocaine residue.

Joseph Aloysius "Junior" Maddox Jr., 43, of Great Mills earlier was sentenced to 10 years in prison on his guilty plea to the drug conspiracy, prosecutors report, and Tyron Anthony "Red Dog" Butler, 30, of Lexington Park was sentenced to nine years in prison on his guilty plea to conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine.

James "Buck" Shade, 32, of Lexington Park is awaiting sentencing on a charge of conspiracy to distribute five or more kilograms of powder cocaine and 50 or more grams of crack cocaine.
