Police are searching for clues in the homicide of a Washington, D.C., woman whose remains were found Friday morning in a wooded residential area along Floral Park Road in Brandywine, according to Prince George's police.
A resident of the 3400 block of Floral Park Road was on his way home when he noticed "badly decomposed" remains next to his driveway, said Henry Tippett, a police spokesman.
After an autopsy at the state medical examiner's office in Baltimore, the remains were identified Monday as Dominique Diane Curtis, 21, of the 1300 block of Ridge Place in the District. The cause of death was determined to be a single gunshot wound to the upper body, Tippett said.
While it is not clear how long the remains were there, Tippett said, they had probably been there "quite a few days."
Tippett said Monday he could not confirm whether the woman had been reported missing.
The home has a long driveway surrounded by wooded brush, and there are only a handful of houses surrounding it, Tippett said.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Prince George's County Police Department's homicide unit at 301-772-4925.
