Walking before the county Relay for Life

Calvert Elementary School ran a mini Relay for Life event to support the American Cancer Society recently. Most students were dressed in either purple or pink and wore their favorite pirate garb. The Calvert Elementary Crewe walked, skipped, galloped and in some cases crab-walked around the gym during the course of their regular physical education class. Every student in grades kindergarten through fifth walked for 30 minutes to increase cancer awareness and in honor or memory of friends and relatives. The event raised more than $2,200 for the American Cancer Society.
