A 17-year-old was charged with malicious destruction of property valued at less than $500 after a sprinkler head was vandalized inside the Cheltenham Youth Facility on Frank Tippett Road in Prince George’s County on June 3.
The tampering caused the sprinkler system to activate and spray water, resulting in an estimated $150 in damage. A detention facility employee discovered the broken sprinkler and notified authorities at 10:30 p.m., Tennyson said in a report.
The juvenile was charged and released back to the facility.
