Arson charged in Indian Head construction trailer fire

William Armah II, 23, of Suitland was charged June 4 with second-degree arson of a construction trailer, according to a report from the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The trailer suffered little damage in the May 28 fire at Poplar Lane in Indian Head, and authorities received no reports of damage to the trailer’s contents. Armah has been released from custody and is awaiting trial.
Lightning sparksattic fire in La Plata
A June 4 lightning strike started a small fire in the attic of a home on Hibiscus Court in La Plata, causing an estimated $15,000 in damage, according to a report from the state fire marshal’s office.
A neighbor spotted the fire and called authorities at about 9:41 p.m.
Thirty-three firefighters from the La Plata, Waldorf and Bel Alton volunteer fire departments fought the blaze at the two-story townhouse, controlling it within five minutes, according to Deputy State Fire Marshal John Tennyson’s report.
