Leonardtown graduates future officers

Ten members of Leonardtown High School's class of 2009 will be working their way into the American military's officer corps through ROTC scholarships or acceptance into West Point, Annapolis or the Air Force Academy. Pictured from left to right are Matt Oechsel (U.S. Military Academy), Rae Pona (Villanova University), John Healy (Norwich University), Sean Crain (U.S. Naval Academy), Tyler Beckman (Loyola University of Maryland), Stephanie Ligon (Penn State), Stephen Gast (U.S. Air Force Academy) and Ben Lynch (Loyola College in Maryland). Not pictured are Austin Toombs (U.S. Naval Academy) and Nick Corey (Penn State). Members of the Leonardtown's graduating class received a total of $11 million in college scholarships and included 93 members of the National Honor Society.
