Katharina von Kellenbach is correct in labeling abortion "a violent act" but I submit that this violence is perpetrated not "on the body of a woman," but on the child, who is executed in cold blood, receiving a gruesome death for gain by those who should do all in their power to protect the child.
She calls the "odious" murder of innocents by Dr. Tiller and other abortionists admirable and necessary for the greater good. She disregards the totality of scripture which over and over speaks of the fact that human beings are created by God in his image, that he has a purpose for each one, and that their lives are so precious to him that he redeemed them by the blood of his son, Jesus.
Exodus 21:22-25 gives record of the death penalty against those who commit violence against pregnant women resulting in the death of the unborn child, just as our own legal system holds to account those who by attacking the mother, harm the unborn. In our bloody nation only the mother and her physician have the right to murder the unborn. God abhorred the infanticide practiced by the heathen nations and judged these people by the sword and forbade the intermarrying of the Israelites with these idolaters.
Ms. Kellenbach and Dr. Tiller (as well as each of us) will face God's judgment for what they made their lives stand for.
St. Mary's College and this community should repent in sackcloth and ashes for placing their young under the tutelage of such a person and for voting into office those who favor the law calling murder a "choice."
Her statement that pro-lifers do little to care for the needs of women and children in difficulty is patently false and unsupported. There are many fine organizations that offer material assistance, parenting classes, childbirth classes, referrals to other helping agencies and many other services to women and children. I, and many others, have adopted children, including those with special needs. I do not seek to be praised for this and I use myself merely as an example.
In the words of Mother Teresa, "It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish."
