Planning commission to host presentation June 25

The Calvert County Planning Commission is currently engaged in the Town Center Master Plan Update Process. The planning commission will be hosting Thomas Hylton, who will talk on comprehensive planning and traditional town planning, on Wednesday, June 25, in the Calvert High School Auditorium, located at 600 Dares Beach Road in Prince Frederick. There will be an open house at 7 p.m. The presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Hylton, a Pulitzer-prize winning journalist, wrote ‘‘Save Our Land, Save Our Countryside.” He hosted an hour-long public television documentary of the same name. Hylton is a native of Wyomissing, Pa. He is the chairman of the Pottstown Planning Commission and the Pottstown Shade Tree Commission. 4-H to host Campon Wheels
Space is still available for the University of Maryland Extension Calvert County 4-H Camp on Wheels.
Participants must be ages 8 to 12 by July 1. Camp on wheels is scheduled for July 28 through Aug. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Campers will travel to a different destination each day, including Port Discovery, Calvert Marine Museum, Chesapeake Biological Lab, Jefferson Patterson Park, Oxon Hill Farm, Cove Point Pool, Chesapeake Railway Museum and Chesapeake Beach Water Park. For $125, participants can enjoy all activities for the entire week. Campers will need to be dropped off and picked up each day at the Community Resources Building (Old Prince Frederick Library), located at 30 Duke Street, Room 105, in Prince Frederick. All campers must bring a bag lunch.
