The Southern Maryland Business Network recently welcomed new member Kathy Burch of Lia Sophia. Burch is a resident of Port Tobacco. Lia Sophia features modern jewelry styles in its line of products, which includes semiprecious stones and crystals.

SMBN, an independent organization that promotes business referrals among its members, meets from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays at Southwinds Adult Active Community in White Plains.

Donnelly joinsBowen Advisors

Shaun Donnelly of Pomfret has joined Bowen Advisors as a principal. Donnelly will be based in Washington, D.C., and brings more than a decade of senior management experience to the organization, a strategic advisory, mergers and acquisitions firm for communications technology companies.

Donnelly has more than 12 years in the communications technology industry, serving in various executive sales positions, including vice president of worldwide sales and marketing for sentitO Networks, assistant vice president of sales for Lucent Technologies and area vice president of sales for North America at Telica. Earlier in his career, he held senior management and sales positions with Alcatel, DSC Communications and Telecommunications Technique Corp., according to a press release.

Donnelly began his career in telecommunications after serving seven years in the U.S. Navy as a nuclear submarine officer. He received a bachelor’s degree with honors in naval architecture engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and a master’s degree in information systems management from George Washington University.

Chamber to hold newmember orientation

The Charles County Chamber of Commerce will hold its next new member orientation and networking breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. June 27.

The breakfast will be sponsored by Civista Health and will be held at the chamber office at 101 Centennial St., Suite A in La Plata. Invited new members are free, members pay $15 and nonmembers pay $25 per person.
