Three teens survived their BMW striking a utility pole after skidding off Broomes Island Road north of Mackall Road on June 16 just after 6 p.m.
The driver of the vehicle, Shannon Marie Pearson, 16, of St. Leonard remains in critical condition at the Washington Hospital Center MedStar unit from life-threatening injuries that she sustained in the crash, according to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office.
The two other passengers, Jennifer Lynn Channell, 16, of St. Leonard and Courtney Lynn Williams, 16, of Port Republic were both transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital with minor injuries and were released from the hospital, the report stated.
Units from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team concluded that the BMW lost control on the wet roadway and the pole struck on the driver’s side door.
The investigation into the crash is being handled by Cpl. James Wahlgren of the Crash Reconstruction Unit.
