Maurice J. McDonough High School students presented a $6,900 check to LifeStyles of Maryland on June 18, to benefit Charles County's homeless population.
The money was raised through a fundraising walk at the school on May 13.
Arranged by students completing their service-learning graduation requirement, the idea was sparked following a presentation by a May 6 presentation by LifeStyles staff at the school during which information was given about the organization and how the "Safe Nights" and other homeless-centered programs impacts the lives of many, from young to old.
Students also had to write reflective essays about homelessness.
