DANCE Empowerment
The nonprofit organization will host "New Generation Showcase 2009" at 7 p.m. June 27 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church Family Life Center. According to a press release, the free event will showcase youth from Calvert County and another DANCE Empowerment group from Fresno, Calif., performing hip-hop and gospel interpretative dances, skits and life skills presentations. The event is at 105 Vianney Lane (off Main Street), Prince Frederick.
Heavenly Chicken & Ribs

Off to the races

Learn about radio
St. Mary's County Amateur Radio Association will demonstrate amateur radio at the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department, 24801 Three Notch Road, at 10 a.m. June 28 and 29. The round-the-clock event will allow participants to learn about "ham radio's capabilities," a press release states. The event is free.
Summer safari
In concert with the "Wild Things" art exhibit, Annmarie Garden Sculpture Park and Arts Center will host "Summer Safari" through Aug. 30. Twenty safari sites have been chosen in Calvert County; participants must visit the site and get points by answering animal-related questions.
