A car driven from a trailer park south of Lexington Park on Tuesday afternoon went off a nearby roadway and crashed, law officers report, in an accident that injured its two occupants.

Ambulance crews took Vicki Curtis, 31, and Brian Hicks, 27, to St. Mary's Hospital after the crash, according to St. Mary's sheriff's deputies, and the pair was released by the next day.

The Saturn sedan left Lexington Estates trailer park at about 1:48 p.m. Tuesday, authorities report, and it went off nearby Poplar Ridge Road moments later, climbing a steep shoulder bank as it overturned into woods.

"The two occupants crawled out of the car," a senior sheriff's deputy said this week.

The injured man and woman already had been removed from the scene when a woman among area residents approaching the site identified herself as the owner of the vehicle.

"My car's up there in the woods," she said before she walked to law officers securing the scene of the crash.

No charges were reported at press time Thursday from the investigation.

Lexington park rescue volunteers and Bay District and Ridge volunteer firefighters responded to the scene, along with a Maryland State Police helicopter crew.
