Thomas "Tom" Austin Dyer, 89, of Mechanicsville died June 15, 2009, at Civista Medical Center in La Plata.
Born March 28, 1920, in Dentsville, he was the son of the late Julian G. and Beatrice Gardiner Dyer.
He was a foreman for the Maryland state roads department. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Good Sam Club.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Julia G. Dyer; his children, Joan L. Woods and Linda D. Hockett, all of Mechanicsville, and Thomas J. Dyer of Robinson, Texas; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Genevieve Baden of Port Tobacco and Lucy Burch of Hughesville.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Margaret Lynch and Julian Dyer.
Service and interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home in Charlotte Hall.
