Jena Elizabeth Thomas, 56, La Plata

Born Jan. 3, 1953, in Leonardtown, she was the daughter of the late James Bruce and Mary Ethel Ellis Thomas Sr.

She is survived by her children, Tammy Goldsborough of California, Joseph Abell of Lexington Park and Mary Abell of Bel Alton; her grandchildren, Shirley Goldsborough, Marty Goldsborough and Christopher Smith; her siblings, James Bruce Thomas Jr. of Avenue, Peggy Stauffer of Colton's Point, Andrew Dale Thomas of Fort McCoy, Fla., and Bobby Thomas of Avenue; her niece, Dawn Wallace (Calvin); and host of other nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Leonardtown High School and moved to Charles County in 2005. She was a homemaker who loved spending time with her family. She was fan of television actor George Lopez, from whom she had received gifts.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 8, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home in Leonardtown, where a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Interment will be private.
