Jena Elizabeth "Jeannie" Thomas, 56, of La Plata, formerly of Avenue, died June 30, 2009, at the Genesis Eldercare Center, La Plata.
She graduated from Leonardtown High School and moved to Charles County in 2005. She was a homemaker who loved spending time with her family. She was fan of television actor George Lopez, from whom she had received gifts.
Born Jan. 3, 1953, in Leonardtown, she was the daughter of the late James Bruce and Mary Ethel Ellis Thomas Sr.
She is survived by her children, Tammy Goldsborough of California, Joseph Abell of Lexington Park and Mary Abell of Bel Alton; grandchildren, Shirley Goldsborough, Marty Goldsborough and Christopher Smith; siblings, James Bruce Thomas Jr. of Avenue, Peggy Stauffer of Colton's Point, Andrew Dale Thomas of Fort McCoy, Fla., and Bobby Thomas of Avenue; niece, Dawn Wallace and her husband, Calvin; and many other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until time of memorial service at 7 p.m. July 8 at Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown. Burial will be private.
