Cell phone accessorytaken from Best Buy

On June 23, trooper W. Scarlett responded to Best Buy in Waldorf for a reported theft.

A store security guard said William A. Krell, 23, of Charlotte Hall stole a cell phone accessory from the display rack and cut off the anti-theft device with a pair of wire cutters. Krell was charged with theft and willfully and maliciously destroying an electronic anti-theft device.

Federal law enforcement equipment stolen

Someone broke into a federal law enforcement officer’s car in the 2700 block of Hale Court in Waldorf between June 25 and 27, sheriff’s officers reported.

A report of the theft in Waldorf reached authorities at 7 a.m. June 27. The officers found that someone had stolen a backpack containing police equipment, including a police radio, identification card, handcuffs and personal items, police reported.

Officer C. Barrows is investigating.

Barge of fireworksseized by NRP police

Maryland Natural Resources Police spotted a barge of fireworks anchored at dusk Saturday in the Patuxent River that state investigators report was intended for an illegal fireworks display that night.

The state fire marshal’s office estimated the street value of the seized fireworks at $10,000 after they were discovered on the 20-by-45-foot barge located offshore from the Patuxent View community.

‘‘The investigation is continuing to identify the individuals responsible for the illegal show,” according to a release by Deputy State Fire Marshal Joseph G. Zurolo Jr.
