Four-vehicle crash delays traffic

A loaded Freightliner dump truck that was unable to reduce its speed struck a Ford Explorer on Route 4 around 2:20 p.m. Monday in Huntingtown. The Explorer then struck a Ford Focus, which was pushed into an Oldsmobile van, according to a Maryland State Police press release. The crash delayed northbound traffic for more than an hour. The driver of the Ford Explorer, Richard T. Kline, 20, of Hollywood, Md., and passenger, Amanda L. Vause, 18, of Hollywood were flown to Prince George’s County’s Shock Trauma with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries, the release stated. The student driver of the Ford Focus, Tyler C. Overly, 16, of St. Leonard, and the passenger, Richard C. Weber, 44, of Chesapeake Beach were transported by ambulance to Calvert Memorial Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries, and the driver of the Oldsmobile Van, Colleen M. Burgin, 45, of Lusby was not injured, according to the press release. Also not injured was the driver of the dump truck, Joseph W. Vallandingham Jr., 23, of Clements. An inspection of his Freightliner truck was done andÊthe results are pending, the report stated.
