Call for ShortStack submissions — Accokeek Creek Theatre will take submissions of unpublished short works (with a runtime less than 30 minutes) set in a standard American diner for its annual ShortStack series through July 23. The selected plays will receive readings at The Kennedy Center’s Page-to-Stage Festival of new plays over Labor Day weekend and will be performed in a diner in Maryland. Annmarie Garden arts building — ‘‘Re.action” continues through Aug. 31. An exploration of movement, the interactive exhibition was juried by Mark Ward, director of the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore. In the mezzanine gallery, ‘‘Olga Hirshhorn Recollects” continues through Sept. 31. The show includes works by Picasso, Matisse and Miro. The arts building is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday.
