Commodores — U.S. Navy Band’s Commodores jazz ensemble will perform at 6 p.m. July 13 at Downs Park, 8311 John Downs Loop, Pasadena.

Theater

Call for ShortStack submissions — Accokeek Creek Theatre will take submissions of unpublished short works (with a runtime less than 30 minutes) set in a standard American diner for its annual ShortStack series through July 23. The selected plays will receive readings at The Kennedy Center’s Page-to-Stage Festival of new plays over Labor Day weekend and will be performed in a diner in Maryland. Galleries

Annmarie Garden arts building — ‘‘Re.action” continues through Aug. 31. An exploration of movement, the interactive exhibition was juried by Mark Ward, director of the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore. In the mezzanine gallery, ‘‘Olga Hirshhorn Recollects” continues through Sept. 31. The show includes works by Picasso, Matisse and Miro. The arts building is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday. Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum — Two free events will be held on July 12 at the Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum. At 11 a.m. it’s ‘‘From the Ground Up: Revealing Culture through Archaeology.” The event is free. At 1 p.m. it’s ‘‘A Point in Focus: A Detailed Look at the Facets of Archaeology.” From 2-5 p.m. July 13 Calvert Spinners & Weavers will teach how to create tie-dyed T-shirts with natural dyes.
