Ryken gets two on Maryland elite team Friday, July 14, 2006
Two St. Mary’s Ryken lacrosse players are selected to the Maryland elite 44 players. More than 230 players tried out for the Free State All-Star Game in Baltimore. This included the top players from both private and public high schools throughout Maryland. Two sophomores, Andrew Wascavage (goalie) and Zack Angel (attack), were chosen. They both played in the North⁄South All-Star Game. Wascavage was picked as the No. 3 goalie in the state. Angel was picked on the Top 20 Free State All-Star Team. This team played the Connecticut All-Star Team on June 24 at Broadneck High School. The Maryland All-Stars easily defeated the Connecticut All-Stars, 18-4. Angel was the leading scoring attack with two goals and four assists. He figured in on a third of the goals scored by Maryland.
