SMHC’s Subacute Care Center awarded
Southern Maryland Hospital Center’s Subacute Care Center was recently presented with the Circle of Excellence Award during the National Director of Nurses in Long Term Care Conference held in June in Las Vegas, Nev.
The award is presented to licensed long-term care facilities for their excellence in survey results. The Subacute Care Center received a deficiency-free federal survey. The subacute unit is part of the continuum of care at Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton. It has been serving patients for 11 years. The unit provides rehabilitation to patients typically after a hospital stay. The unit boasts a full complement of staff which includes a medical director physiatrist, administrator, nursing director, dietitian, social worker, case manager, activities director, RNs, LPNs, CMAs, GNAs and physical and occupational therapists.
Evolve Technologies links cancer treatment centers
Evolve Technologies, a company that specializes in providing information technology solutions for small businesses, recently announced it has completed a project linking the two operating sites of the Chesapeake Potomac Regional Cancer Center.
Evolve Technologies also will provide the center ongoing IT support, including complete helpdesk services.
The center provides radiation therapy services to cancer patients living in Southern Maryland from locations in Waldorf and Charlotte Hall. The center sought to link the two facilities electronically to streamline patient treatment and enhance the quality of care, according to a press release
Evolve Technologies installed a Microsoft Exchange server integrated with Microsoft Windows server. The use of a Citrix-based, remote-access solution allows the two facilities to share a common patient database and securely access patient data from any location, according to the release.
Harris joins network
Tracey Harris of Harris Studio has joined the Southern Maryland Business Network. Harris Studio specializes in traditional fine art, portraiture and custom murals. Harris Studio is currently accepting commissions for oils, pastels, charcoal and graphite.
Harris is a member of the Portrait Society of America, the Cecelia Beaux Forum, the Charles County Arts Alliance, Mattawoman Creek Art Center and the Charles County Chamber of Commerce.
