Eating well to do good

About 185 folks sampled grilled seafood and steaks at Bonefish Grill and raised more than $9,000 for youth in Charles and Prince George's counties.

Participants in an auction got the chance to bid on baseball tickets, and dinners and desserts from Bonefish Grill.

"What a privilege to be selected for this event," Gretchen Heinze Hardman, executive director of the Community Foundation of Charles County, said in a press release. "We were up against some nationally known organizations for this opportunity. I think what helped with their decision to select us was the ability to keep the funds local and give back to the community that will be supporting Bonefish Grill."

Staff and members of the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of Charles County handled the guest list, publicity and registration, selling additional drink tickets and organizing the auction at the event; Bonefish Grill handled customer service and food and drinks.

The restaurant opened last month in Brandywine Crossing shopping center in Brandywine.
