A car plowed into a guardrail and tree Tuesday morning in a La Plata wreck that killed a 25-year-old man and seriously injured two other people.
Witnesses reported the 1999 Ford Mustang driven by Jeffrey Daniel Milan was speeding and passing other vehicles before the crash, according to Maryland State Police Cpl. Joseph K. Swann. Speed and the wet roads appear to be factors in the single-car accident, according to police.
The Mustang was traveling east on Charles Street near Cooksey Road at about 8 a.m. when Milan lost control of the car. The Mustang struck a guardrail, crossed both lanes of traffic and hit a tree, police reported.
Milan, 25, of Nanjemoy was pronounced dead on the scene, and his two passengers, both of Hollywood, suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash.
The front seat passenger, Adrian Paul Proffer, 26, was flown by helicopter to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
Kristina Ann Himes, 24, who was sitting in the back seat, was driven by ambulance to Prince George's Hospital Center.
This is accident is being investigated by trooper first class S. Murphy.
