Clarence Joseph Dunnington, 85, of Marbury died Sept. 11, 2007, in La Plata.

Mr. Dunnington was educated in Charles County public schools. He worked at the Census Bureau for 15 years.

He liked watching Westerns and ships. He was a collector.

He liked to watch ‘‘Sanford & Son,” enjoyed socializing with family and friends, liked old pickup trucks and was most proud of his grandson, Herbert, being successful in the military. He was a happy, friendly, bossy, likeable, jolly person and a jokester. He loved looking good.

Born June 17, 1922, in Charles County, he was the son of the late Marcellus Dunnington and the late Ada Dunnington.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Pearl Regina Jackson and Virgie Marine Dunnington; and son, Paul Kenneth Dunnington.

He is survived by his wife, Pearline Johnson Dunnington; siblings, Clifford ‘‘Dinks” Dunnington, Paul ‘‘Poggie” Dunnington and Ollie Barnes; daughters, Janice Marie Dunnington, Virginia Elizabeth Wills and Catherine Day; sons, Clarence Dunnington Jr., John Wayne Dunnington, Frank Theodore Dunnington, Charles Clifford Dunnington, William Francis Dunnington and Harry Joseph Dunnington; daughters-in-law, Connie Dunnington, Debora Dunnington, Constance Dunnington and Beula Dunnington; and sons-in-law, George Day and Joseph Wills.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until noon Sept. 15 at Williams Funeral Home, Indian Head. Burial will take place at St. Charles Cemetery, Glymont.

Pallbearers will be William Adams, Toby Lee, Paul Dunnington, Micheal Dunnington and Clifford Dunnington.
