Road closings, bridge work scheduled

Springhill-Newtown Road will be closed to all through traffic until Sept. 27 for replacement of the railroad crossing between St. Mary's Avenue and Greenland Place.

Also, Kent Avenue at the railroad tracks will be closed to all through traffic from Sept. 28 until Oct. 4 for replacement of the railroad crossing.
Signs will be posted notifying the public of the closure. Motorists are encouraged to use Charles Street and Washington Avenue as alternate routes.

Lane closures set for Nice bridge
The Maryland Transportation Authority will be temporarily closing one lane of the Gov. Harry W. Nice Memorial Bridge in Newburg next week while crews perform inspection work on the structure.
Single-lane closures are scheduled to take place from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from Sept. 28 to Oct. 8. Traffic will alternate in the open lane of the bridge.
Trucks large than 11 feet wide will not be permitted to cross the bridge during the inspection. Every effort will be made to cross all vehicles exceeding 11 feet in width from 8 to 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 to 4 p.m. Drivers of the large vehicles must call MdTA at 301-259-4444 to schedule an appointment.
