Elizabeth Ann Cameron, 70, of Leonardtown died Sept. 29, 2008, in Clinton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Aug. 22, 1938, in Rockingham, N.C., to the late John Monroe and Martha Jane Grigg Cameron.
She moved to St. Mary’s County in 1944 when the Patuxent River Naval Air Station was being built.
After attending Frank Knox Elementary School, she spent the best years of her life at Great Mills High School with many friends and caring teachers. She loved the warm summer days of Lexington Park during the 1950s.
She graduated from Great Mills High School in 1955, where she earned the title for most athletic. She was a member of the National Honor Society and a founding member of the Lexington Park United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir.
She loved movies, music of all types, carnivals, playing bingo, bridge and solitaire, dancing and singing. She loved the beach, nature and animals. She especially enjoyed eating her mother’s homemade food because it included both the Southern Maryland and North Carolina traditional flavor and uniqueness.
She is survived by her brothers, James Samuel Cameron of Reno, Nev., and Charles Ray Cameron of St. Mary’s City; sisters-in-law, Claudia, Donna and Ann Cameron; brother-in-law, Ed Priest; nieces, Laura, Charlotte and Karen Cameron, Wendy St. Clair, Kathleen Roser and Laurie J. Cameron of Germany; nephew, Mike Cameron; and great-nephews, Jack and Evan Roser of Leonardtown.
Graveside service will be held today, Friday, Oct. 3, at 11 a.m. in First Saint’s Community Church, St. Paul’s United Methodist Cemetery in Leonardtown.
The Rev. Keith Schukraft will officiate.
