A Hughesville man was jailed Friday on robbery charges from a holdup last month at a convenience store, and a Mechanicsville man is accused in charging papers of driving the gunman to and from the scene.
A judge ordered Tuesday that Aaron Paul Toye, the 46-year-old Hughesville resident, remain in jail in lieu of $350,000 bond on charges from the Sept. 24 incident at the Exxon business in Charlotte Hall.
St. Mary's detectives earlier arrested 43-year-old John Henry McKee on armed robbery, conspiracy and handgun charges in court papers accusing him of taking the man who carried out the crime to the store and later driving him to Charles County. McKee remained jailed Tuesday in lieu of 10 percent of $250,000 bond.
Toye concealed his identity as he entered the store, demanded money from store clerk Harjit Singh and displayed a pistol in his waistband before seizing $89 from a cash register, according to charging papers filed by St. Mary's detective Cpl. Vyvyan Walker.
Michael Sokoloff, an off-duty Charles County law officer, saw someone enter the business and leave the area with a driver, court papers state, and St. Mary's detectives questioned Toye on Friday at his residence.
California man charged with robbery
A judge ordered Tuesday that Glenn Rodney Battle Jr., 23, of California remain jailed in lieu of 10 percent of $150,000 bond on charging papers alleging he robbed a woman of a cell phone last week at the convenience store where she works.
Kelisa Shinikka Thompson told police that she was in an employee area of the Wawa business in California when the suspect, a former boyfriend, barged in, punched her in the back and seized her work apron holding the phone, according to charging papers filed by sheriff's deputy S.D. Ruest.
The suspect later was arrested at another Wawa store on Great Mills Road, court papers state, and he also was charged with the unauthorized use of a 2003 Honda Civic owned by his mother, Portia Elizabeth Parker.
