MetCom meeting scheduled at Greenwell State Park
The St. Mary's County Metropolitan Commission is meeting on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 8:30 a.m. at Greenwell State Park, 24340 Rosedale Manor Lane in Hollywood. MetCom is meeting with the county commissioners regarding the privatization of the Navy's water and sewer system.
Public forum set for next week
The St. Mary's County commissioners are hosting a public forum on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 6:30 p.m. at the Northern Senior Activity Center at 29655 Charlotte Hall Road in Charlotte Hall. For more information contact the center at 301-475-4002, ext. 1001.
Commissioners holding public hearings on growth plan
The St. Mary's County commissioners are holding three public hearings on an update to the county government's growth plan update. The first one will be Thursday, Oct. 29, at 6:30 p.m. in the commissioners meeting room in the Chesapeake Building, 41770 Baldridge St. in Leonardtown, Hearings will also be held on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 6:30 p.m. at St. Mary's College of Maryland and on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 6:30 p.m. at the Northern Senior Activity Center in Charlotte Hall.
The revised public hearing document will be posted to the county's Web site at www.stmarysmd.com. Click on land use and growth management under the services box, then click on public hearing documents. Print copies are available at the three county libraries and the public information office on the third floor of the Potomac Building.
Comments on the plan may be made prior to the hearings and 10 days after.
Hazardous waste collection set for Nov. 17 at county landfill
St. Mary's County government will be collecting hazardous household waste on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the St. Andrew's Landfill off St. Andrew's Church Road in California. Items to be collected include pharmaceuticals, disinfectants, paint, stains and polish, solvents and thinners, caustic cleaners, pool chemicals, lawn care chemicals, pet care chemicals, pesticides, fungicides and herbicides, batteries, thermometers, thermostats, fluorescent light bulbs, aerosol cans, old gasoline, kerosene and other fuels.
