Charles County Planning Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 2 in the county commissioners' meeting room in the county government building, 200 Baltimore St., La Plata. Items on the agenda include a work session on a proposed zoning text amendment that would reduce the minimum square footage of single-family homes and townhouses from 1,640 square feet to 1,250 square feet. Charles County commissioners will hold a public hearing at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 3 on a proposed amendment to the zoning ordinance to remove language requiring the owner of the residential unit where an accessory apartment is located to reside in one of the dwelling units. Charles County commissioners will hold a public hearing at 1 p.m. Nov. 3 on the proposed bed and breakfast tourist homes text amendment. The amendment increases the maximum number of guests from five to eight and allows a bed and breakfast tourist home to be located in an existing dwelling unit which may include facilities in an existing accessory structure. Maryland Department of Human Resources is seeking comment on the possibility of revising the child support guidelines in Maryland. A forum will be held 6-8 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Charles County Department of Social Services, 200 Kent Ave. La Plata. Smarter Growth Alliance for Charles County will hold a public forum 7-8:30 p.m. Nov.4 at the College of Southern Maryland's La Plata campus, Business and Industry Room 113, 8730 Mitchell Road. Free and open to anyone who wishes to learn more about the proposed cross-county connector highway and the county's future growth plans.

Thursday, Nov. 5
