Brian Allshouse, 17, a senior at Chopticon High School stands with his hog during the 63rd St. Mary's County Fair's annual 4-H livestock auction. At the auction, McKay's Fairland Market Inc. purchased the grand champion market hog from Allshouse and donated the hog back to the University of Maryland Extension, St. Mary's County 4-H Program. A pork roast fundraising event was held Oct. 24 at the Leonardtown McKay's storefront to raise money for the 4-H program. Allshouse is taking the Horticulture II curriculum at the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center. He is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and participates on the Envirothon team at Chopticon. Allshouse raised his hog on his family's farm in Loveville. He enrolled in the St. Mary's County 4-H program at 14 and joined the Tudor Hall 4-H Club. He also works part-time at the Vallandingham Farms LLC.
