Joseph Lawrence "Jody" Dement, 45, of Callaway died Nov. 3, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown.
Born Feb. 2, 1964, in Leonardtown, he was the son of Kenneth Dement of Callaway and the late Shirley Long Dement.
He was the husband of Lisa Dement of Callaway and brother of Michael, Ronald and Jeffrey Dement. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenny Dement.
He will be remembered for having a big heart. He enjoyed giving to others. He touched many lives while working at Food Lion in Callaway.
He will also be remembered for his days of umpiring softball games, taking pictures at special events and his love for the Miami Dolphins. He loved to work; he was always willing to work overtime.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Nov. 8, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Brinsfield Funeral Home chapel, where prayers will be recited at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m. in Holy Face Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Sileo officiating.
Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Paul Trossbach, David Dement, Jerry Guy Jr., Carl Bean, Tommy Jameson and Lenny Shade.
