Boston’s The Gourmet Pizza has been named the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs’ newest founding partner.
The professional baseball club will begin play at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf next spring.
As part of the partnership, Boston’s — which opened in August as the first restaurant in Waldorf’s new restaurant park — will be the official sports bar of the Blue Crabs.
‘‘Boston’s is a great new restaurant in Waldorf that’s themed around sports and family dining. Food and sports go hand-in-hand because of passion,” said store franchisee Pank Presswala in a press release. ‘‘By partnering with the Blue Crabs we hope that families will get into the habit of stopping by our restaurant before or after the game.”
As part of being the official sports bar of the Blue Crabs, Boston’s wait staff will wear Blue Crabs’ T-shirts and caps, and the restaurant will display Blue Crabs team jerseys and other materials. Team press conferences, luncheons and other social events will be held at Boston’s.
Other elements of the 10-year founding partnership will include a back-lit video board sign, a back cover advertisement on the Blue Crabs’ souvenir scorecard, an ad panel on Blue Crabs’ pocket schedules, video board and public address reads following each ballgame urging fans to stop by Boston’s, and season tickets.
‘‘We are excited about the partnership with Boston’s and look forward to many years of working together,” said Blue Crabs Senior Vice President Brad Sims. ‘‘Both being new to the Southern Maryland region, it will be exciting to help each other grow and prosper in providing two new entertainment options for families throughout the area.”
The Blue Crabs had previously secured founding partnerships with Regency Furniture, Cedar Point Federal Credit Union, KBK Inc. (Arby’s), Crossroads Hospitality, Civista Medical Center, ACPT and Community Bank of Tri-County, among others.
These founding partnerships include skyboxes and premium stadium signs on 10-year terms. A few skyboxes still remain, along with limited sign opportunities on the video board and manual scoreboard.

CSM paralegal studies earns ABA approval
The College of Southern Maryland has been granted approval by the American Bar Association House of Delegates for the college’s paralegal studies program.
‘‘The College of Southern Maryland is honored to achieve this recognition for its program, and even more pleased to be the fifth college within Maryland with this ABA approval,” said Daphne Morris, associate professor in CSM’s Business, Economics and Legal Studies department and paralegal studies program coordinator in a press release.
The principal objective of the ABA program of approving paralegal education programs that meet ABA guidelines is to foster high-quality paralegal education and training and the development of educational standards.
Offered since 1992, CSM’s paralegal studies program is designed to prepare students for careers by providing substantive knowledge and practical skills necessary for entry-level paralegal positions in public, private or business entities.
Most paralegals work in private law firms; however, other organizations in the private sector employ paralegals, including corporate legal departments, insurance companies, estate and trust departments of large banks, hospitals and health care organizations, real estate and title insurance companies and professional trade associations.
