Fair for SkillsUSA set
The Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center is hosting a crafter/vendor fair on Saturday, Nov. 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and is in search of crafters and vendors who are interested in participating in the event. The table rental fee is $25 per table. Setup begins at 8 a.m., with breakdown beginning immediately after the event. All proceeds will benefit the school's SkillsUSA chapter. Three new members appointed to CSM board
The College of Southern Maryland Foundation appointed three people to its board of directors: Glen Ives, former commander of Patuxent River Naval Air Station commander; Reuben F. "Jay" Lilly Jr. of Bryans Road and Carol Sprague of Port Tobacco. The CSM Foundation provides support to the college and its students through the funding of scholarships, technology and arts, health/wellness and educational opportunities.
Graphics teacher
showcases lesson plan
Kimberly Clements, a graphic communications instructor at the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center, was selected by the Maryland State Department of Education to showcase her lesson plan on media literacy in advertising. The objective of the lesson is to help students distinguish between fact and opinion by determining types of common advertising techniques used to persuade consumers. Clements presented the plan as an example of teaching design at the Oct. 17 PrintED Seminar held in Columbia.

Town Creek Elementary School's Parent Teacher Association is hosting a holiday craft/vendor fair on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and is in search of crafters and vendors who are interested in participating in this event.
