Rockhill becomes Calvert's first ‘Ecosociate'

Realtor C. Michele Rockhill has earned the first "Ecosociate" designation in Calvert County after successfully completing a training program on the energy and environmental issues that affect real estate transactions. Rockhill, an associate broker with Long & Foster Real Estate, is part of the movement of professionals pushing the real estate market toward energy-efficient, sustainable, and healthier features in homes and buildings, according to a release.

Rockhill has served on Calvert's Citizen Green Team since its inception as well as many other committees, boards, task forces and service organizations in the county.

She became an associate broker in 1976 and has been affiliated with Long & Foster since 1986. Born and raised in Calvert County, she stills lives in Long Beach, the community developed by her family, which also developed Flag Harbor.

Annual Solomons Business Association fundraiser set

The annual Solomons Business Association Community Fundraiser silent auction will be held 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Naughty Gull Restaurant and Pub in Solomons.

This event is a fundraiser for the entire community, with proceeds going to the annual Solomons July 4 fireworks, the Solomons Christmas Walk, Taste of Solomons and Solomons Paint the Town.

Attendees will enjoy heavy hors d'oeuvres of crab, shrimp, and chicken and more, including free beer and wine and a cash bar for other drinks.

Save some Christmas shopping for the silent auction.

The cost is $25 per person in advance or $35 at the door. Seating is limited; make reservations on for the Solomons Business Association Community Fundraiser by calling 410-326-4855.

Trawler Fest draws large crowd

Trawler Fest drew large crowds last month in Solomons, according to a release. More than 1,600 people attended the three-day boat show, sponsored by PassageMaker magazine, which featured more than 80 exhibitors.

Buyers looking to join the boating lifestyle for the first time — or to upgrade existing boats — made major purchases while land exhibitors enjoyed a steady stream of customers.

PassageMaker University, a two-day educational event featuring in-depth courses taught by industry experts, preceded Trawler Fest.

A silent and live auction raised $8,500 for the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.

Trawler Fest, in conjunction with PassageMaker University, gave novice and seasoned boaters an opportunity to hone their skills and socialize.
