Calvert County Sheriff Mike Evans awarded College of Southern Maryland Director of Administrative Services Gladys Jones and the college the Sheriff's Salute on Nov. 23. Evans presented the award for Jones' support of the sheriff's office in coordinating numerous training exercises and drills, and for securing classroom space for a two-week Crash Reconstruction School last April that was attended by law enforcement personnel from around the state. Jones, center, of Port Republic is a lifelong Calvert County resident who has worked at CSM for more than 17 years. She is joined by Evans, left, and Calvert County Sheriff's Office Cpl. Vlad Bortchevsky, the county's crash reconstruction coordinator.
