Engineers join technology center

Jonathan Jones, an engineer, and Gene Keating, a research engineer, will join the staff of the Energetics Technology Center in La Plata.
"I am delighted to welcome both of these individuals to the Energetics Technology Center," CEO Bob Kavetsky said in a press release announcing the appointments. "As this organization continues its push towards national excellence in energetics, we have an increasing need for technical expertise and engineers."
Jones' work focuses on the use of mechanical graphics and AutoCAD.
Jones previously was a design engineer in Bethesda. He earned a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering technology from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, according to the release.
Keating is responsible for technical assessment as well as research and development at the center. Keating earned his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California, a master of science in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan, and a Ph.D. from Drexel University. He has been published more 77 times, including textbooks, journal articles and reports.
He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland's mechanical engineering department, according to the release.
The Energetics Technology Center is a private, nonprofit enterprise dedicated to growing science and technology in Southern Maryland. It focuses on workforce and economic development in the region and is a catalyst for energetics research and development.
