Post at 1:40 p.m. Friday A portion of Old Jones Lane in Dunkirk was barricaded by police Friday morning when a special ops team was deployed to a domestic altercation at a residence along the road.

Kurt Donald Belk, 40, allegedly entered the home with a gun, pointed it at his wife and fired it inside the house, but no one was injured, according to a press release from the Calvert Investigative Team, comprised of members of the Calvert County Sheriff's Office and Maryland State Police. Sheriff's deputies responded to the wife's call at around 6 a.m.

The county's special ops team was deployed to assist patrol officers. Old Jones Lane was sealed off at its intersection with Hewitt Court and sheriff's deputies began negotiating with the Belk, who remained inside the home, the release said.

At one point, Belk reportedly exited the house holding the pistol and went back inside. When Belk exited a second time, he was arrested, according to the release. Belk did suffer minor injuries as a result of the arrest, Lt. Steven Jones of the Calvert Investigative Team said.

Belk will be charged with first- and second-degree assault, according to the release.
