Waco employees promoted
Waco Inc. of Accokeek has announced the promotion of Steven E. Williams to vice president, William Keith Burton to senior project manager and Tammy Neave Reulet to project administrator.
Waco Inc. is a specialty contractor in insulation and environmental remediation work, including asbestos, lead and mold abatement. Waco’s Accokeek office serves customers in Maryland, Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia. The company has been established in Southern Maryland since 1984.
Williams has been employed with Waco since 1988 and Burton since 1989.
Williams assumed responsibility for Waco’s Maryland operations in January 2006, following the retirement of F. Wayne Cooper.
Health expert to speak at chamber women’s event
Dr. Vicki Lucas, and expert on women’s health, will be the keynote speaker at the Charles County Chamber of Commerce’s 38th annual Working Woman’s Appreciation Day.
The event is set for 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 26 at the Waldorf Jaycees Community Center at 3090 Crain Highway in Waldorf.
Lucas has presented more than 500 speeches throughout the United States and abroad, has co-edited a book on women’s health, published numerous articles and chapters, served on many boards related to women’s health and has worked as an executive in health care for more than 25 years advocating for better women’s health care, according to a chamber press release.
Lucas was inducted into The Maryland Top 100 Women Circle of Excellence in 2007 and owns her own health care consulting firm, Vicki Lucas LLC. She is married and is the mother of two teenage daughters.

Davis receivesinvestigator honor
Lloyd W. Davis, owner of Davis Investigative Services of Waldorf, was awarded the Investigator of the Year for 2006 at the World Investigators Network annual conference held recently in Hawaii.
Davis has been operating Davis Investigative Services since 1982. He is a charter member of the World Investigators Network and currently serves as first vice president and will be installed as president next year at the annual conference.
Knecht joinsbusiness network
The Southern Maryland Business Network recently welcomed new member Mike Knecht of CMK Enterprises in La Plata.
The business is a painting contractor for internal and external finishing. CMK Enterprises specializes in new construction and also provides Finish Clean Pro for home cleaning.

DirectMail.comannounces partnership
DirectMail.com has announced an agreement with Printable Technologies Inc. to integrate its Web-to-print software into DirectMail.com’s Web site.
Under terms of the arrangement, DirectMail.com will work with Printable to provide small business and other mailers with online direct mail solutions. Printable’s Web-to-print software will be linked with DirectMail.com’s proprietary online list ordering system.
The partnership will allow online customers to design or customize their mail pieces online, order lists from the national consumer masterfile, then print and mail everything. DirectMail.com expects to unveil its new platform using the new Web-to-print solution in the spring as part of a larger redesign of the retail portion of its Web site.
In Prince Frederick, DirecMail.com provides creative, strategic management and production services to business-to-business, direct-to-consumer and nonprofit organizations in the United States and abroad.
Stringer now CPA
Scott Stringer has become a certified public accountant.
Stringer attended St. Mary’s Ryken High School and the University of Maryland. He graduated with degrees in accounting and finance. He is now employed by the Securities and Exchange Commission and resides in Washington, D.C., with his wife, Megan.

Tripp new marketingmanager at Chaney
James ‘‘Steven” Tripp has joined the Chaney Enterprises team as a marketing manager.
Tripp has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass.
For two years he worked for a nonprofit in the Dominican Republic and then pursued a career as an independent marketing and information technology contractor, where he worked with numerous credit union clients on marketing campaigns and corporate rebranding.
Most recently he was the marketing⁄product manager for Andrews Federal Credit Union, where he was in charge of researching and implementing new marketing practices and measuring the effectiveness of marketing programs and initiatives.
In his new role as marketing manager, he will have full authority for developing and implementing all marketing, public relations and image initiatives and campaigns for the Waldorf-based Chaney Enterprises and affiliates.
Information session planned at SMHEC
The College of Notre Dame of Maryland will hold an information session from 4 to 7 p.m. April 17 at Southern Maryland Higher Education Center on Airport Road in California.
The open house will feature information about the management, education and communication master’s programs plus the doctoral program in instructional leadership for changing populations that College of Notre Dame offers at SMHEC. The college provides on-site advisers based at SMHEC.
