A St. Mary's woman died after the car she was riding in collided Sunday evening, police report, with another vehicle traveling on Route 4 in California.

Bonnie Hernandez, a 71-year-old California resident, was pronounced dead after an ambulance crew brought her to the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center, according to a Maryland State Police release.

She was traveling shortly after 6 p.m. that day, the release states, as a passenger in a northbound 1994 Toyota Corolla driven by 72-year-old Raul Hernandez, also of California, who attempted to turn left from the highway onto Kingston Creek Road, and entered the path of a southbound 2012 Hyundai Tucson.

Raul Hernandez was taken by ambulance to the University of Maryland Prince George's Hospital Center for treatment of his injuries, the release states, and two Solomons residents in the Hyundai, 29-year-old Ashley Radano and 9-year-old Ella Fay Radano, were taken to MedStar St. Mary's Hospital.
