Coast Guard Auxiliary recognizes one of its own

U.S. Coast Auxiliary’s Peter Wang, left, received recently the Coast Guard Auxiliary Medal of Operational Merit from Lt. David McConky, right, commanding officer of Coast Guard Station Washington. Wang rescued three people and their dog after their canoe capsized Oct. 22, 2017, on the Potomac River southwest of National Harbor. The three were wearing life jackets but were at risk of hypothermia or being struck by other boats. Wang is a member of Auxiliary Flotilla 25-08 out of Mount Vernon, Va.
