Realtors award scholarships

The Prince George’s County Association of County Realtors recently awarded $10,000 in scholarships to local high school seniors. The scholarships were awarded as part of the David and Juanita Maclin Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of Realtor David Maclin, the 2006 PGCAR President. Seniors Nanette Amihere of Charles Herbert Flowers High School (Pennsylvania State University), Alexis Faucette of Bowie High School (University of Maryland College Park), Ninah Jackson of Oxon Hill High School (Bucknell University) and Sophie Tsanang-Tigoumo of DuVal High School (Columbia University) were each awarded $2,500 scholarships. The students were chosen on the theme How I Made a Difference in my Community.” David Maclin was twice named Realtor of the Year by the PGCAR and was posthumously named Maryland’s REALTOR of the Year in 2007, while his Juanita served on PGCAR committees. To date, the scholarship fund has provided over $105,000 to students graduating from Prince George’s County High Schools.
