Temple Hills elementary school gets beautified

The Samuel L. Chase Elementary PTA hosted a Bulldog Beautification Bash on Oct. 10 to give the school better curb appeal and make it more welcoming for students and staff.

The bash featured free food and music for all volunteers that participated in cleaning, planting, mulching and sprucing up the front exterior of the school.

All former students from Thurgood Marshall Elementary School and Crossland High School who participated received service-learning hours, while Samuel Chase students earned ‘Bulldog Bucks’ for lending a hand.

Home Depot of Oxon Hill donated a majority of the resources for the beautification project, including over 160 bags of mulch. Other community partners included Lowe’s of Clinton, BJ’s of Capital Heights, Aldi grocery, Giant and the Prince George’s County Master Gardeners, University of Maryland Cooperative Extension.
