Kameron Harrison of Mechanicsville, a 2020 graduate of Chopticon High School, was recently awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the Seventh District Optimist Club. Harrison will attend Stevenson University where she will study biochemistry and forensic science. She will also play field hockey for the Mustangs. Above, Harrison accepts her award from Greg VanMeter of the scholarship committee, left, and Mike Alderson, the president of the Seventh District Optimist Club. Each year the club awards up to $6,000 in scholarships to qualifying students. The club holds fund raising events throughout the year to have these scholarships available.
