The Aging & Senior Programs Division maintains a medical equipment loan closet to facilitate temporary provision of durable medical equipment to qualified persons. Supplies consist of walkers, canes, bath/shower benches and wheelchairs, but are limited. Donations accepted. Call 1-855-843-9725.

Chair assisted yoga classes scheduled

Karen Weaver and Gail Wathen will host chair assisted yoga lessons 10 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays through Friday, Feb. 26. Classes will consist of seated postures that focus on opening the joints, standing postures to increase strength and flexibility, and a relaxation/meditation that will help to reduce stress. Geri-Fit classes offered

Free Geri-Fit strength building classes will be held 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays from Jan. 11 through March 31. Geri-Fit is a 45-minute strength building, evidence-based class that helps increase muscular strength and improve balance and coordination. Participants should be able to walk freely with or without the use of a cane or walker. Commitment to the 12-week session is encouraged. Space is limited. Senior Matters: Series II to begin Jan. 14

Senior Matters discussions will be held 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursdays from Jan. 14 through Feb. 18. Discuss what’s on your mind or in your heart and hear from others. The sessions will begin with an introduction week on concerns, challenges or perspective. Subsequent meetings will focus on relevant issues and can include COVID concerns and matters in the areas of mental health, physical and social wellness, chronic illness/management and expression and creativity. Vocalist, songwriter, recording artist, pianist and teacher Robert L. Jefferson is offering virtual beginner classes 1 p.m. Thursdays Jan. 21 through Feb. 25. IPC first assignment: Aprons

The Loffler Senior Activity Center will launch Independent Project Clubs, which will consist of a monthly assignment followed by a Reveal Day Curbside Event. The first program will be the Independent Project Sewing Club, the project of which will be an apron. Members will work on it at leisure and on Reveal Day, Wednesday, Feb. 10, can drive up to the Loffler Senior Activity Center at staggered times, reveal their masterpieces, pose for a photo which will be posted on the department’s Facebook page and receive a new assignment Other club ideas being considered are bird-lovers, crafters, puzzle and garden.
