We know that many people throughout the region interact with the Greater Waldorf Jaycees year after year, and probably thank them quietly and often. Today, however, we would like to publicly praise them and clearly express our deepest gratitude for all they have done for us and for our entire community. We are especially grateful for the incredible giving heart of Frank Hollewa; and we know that he is just the tip of the iceberg of a whole mountain of giving and community support that you find in each volunteer and employee of this outstanding organization.

Most recently they directly supported our efforts to assist women and children in crisis, a Lifestyles outreach and support program that is near and dear to our hearts because of our personal knowledge of the needs of these, the most fragile families and members of our community. Without their huge donation of the entire Greater Waldorf Jaycees Community Center, refreshments and other incredible support that accounted for well in excess of $25,000, the entire recent Big Hair Ball fundraiser of Lifestyles could never have achieved the success that it did. Significantly, this is the second year that they have been the leading contributor in the community to this worthwhile effort. So for this specific support, we can only say to them and to the entire Charles County community how much we appreciate the dedication, professionalism and giving spirit of the whole Jaycees organization.

We are just one of many recipients of their generosity, however; and we want to remind our community of all the other efforts that the Jaycees have led or supported as we recognize 50 years of service to our community. In the hopes that each of you will remember and support this incredible organization through volunteering, fundraising or participation in their programs, please think about all of these other Jaycees contributions to the Charles County community:

Field of Dreams — an incredible, inclusive outdoor recreational facility where families with young children and special needs individuals can enjoy play in a secure environment.

Low cost apartments for seniors, ensuring a safe living environment for the elderly who are in need of affordable housing as well as supporting the Senior Citizens Prom.

Support for Spring Dell Center aiding disabled and special needs individuals throughout the community.

Support for Toys for Tots, Health Partners, Old Waldorf School, veterans with PTSD, Hospice, Humane Society, high school scholarships, College of Southern Maryland Children’s Learning Center and many more. The Jaycees main goal is to support the community. We can attest to the fact that they do this in more ways than many know. We just want to say thank you and ask our neighbors to thank any Jaycees member that they know or think about contributing to their mission however they can.

Thank you, Greater Waldorf Jaycees! Congratulations on your 50th anniversary.
