Two men who were indicted April 5 with assaulting and raping the same woman on July 4 last year recently pleaded guilty to misdemeanor second-degree assault in the case.
Travon Aronde Berry, 23, of Waldorf pleaded guilty on Sept. 24 as part of an Alford plea, while Trevan Desales Gant, 18, of Lexington Park pleaded guilty on Oct. 7.
In an Alford plea, the defendant pleads guilty in recognition that the prosecution has enough evidence to support a charge or conviction.
Berry was previously convicted of second-degree assault after entering a guilty plea on Feb. 16, 2017. For that offense, which occurred on Oct. 5, 2016, Berry received one year of probation and was given credit for 10 days in jail.
On Oct. 7, Gant also pleaded guilty to four counts of firearms possession from two other cases.
Neither has been sentenced for the most recent assault convictions, and the dates had not been set as of Oct. 13.
