I am a student at Chopticon High School. On Thursday, Nov. 17, I had the opportunity to attend the St. Mary’s County redistricting public meeting at the Lexington Park Library.

Attending a public meeting is a requirement for the Boy Scout communications merit badge I am working on. The meeting was interesting and I learned a lot. The experience was fascinating and I think that other teenagers should also make an effort to attend public meetings because you can learn a lot of interesting things about our community.

If you are an active member of your community, you can learn about all of the different opinions people have and become a better person yourself.
