For another year the Southern Maryland Spinners Motorcycle Club of Calvert County made a sizable donation to Sarah’s Angels. From this donation, Malinda Willet, a member of Sarah’s Angels was able to make 10 pink blankets that will be given to breast cancer patients.

The Calvert County Branch of the NAACP held their Annual Summit Breakfast Saturday, Feb. 17, hosted by the Gray Ray American Legion Post #220. After a country breakfast, the more than 70 attendees gained valuable information from a number of notable speakers.

The ladies of the Southern Maryland Chain Chapter of the Links Incorporated continued their mission of serving the community by continuing their annual tradition of bringing holiday cheer to local shelters.

Omega Pi Omega chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. assembled and donated over 100 healthy snack bags to the Brooks United Methodist Church Food Pantry located in St. Leonard on Oct. 16.

As part of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s goal of educational enrichment, Omega Pi Omega assembled 80 backpacks filled with over 1,160 school supply items and 50 personal toiletry bags for donation to select community organizations.

Attendees to the Maryland Federation of Republican Women 96th Annual Fall Convention, which took place Oct. 20-22 in Gaithersburg made decisions as they elected the women who will lead the MFRW during the 2018-2019 biennium. The slated candidates drew no opposition and were elected by acclamation.

The College of Southern Maryland robotics season has begun. Expectations are high for the CSM robotics program this academic year, particularly the college’s competitive robotics team, the Talons, which will be following up a stellar performance from the 2016-17 season.

Girl Scout Troop 4349 is made up of kindergarteners and first graders who meet at Calvert Elementary school. This year for their take action project the girls wanted to use some of their cookie profit for St. John Vianney’s Food Pantry. The Girls were able to donate $410 to the food pantry. …
