Calvert County recently announced that it will celebrate its 14th annual Business Appreciation Week May 6-9.

The Calvert County Department of Economic Development will hold a series of events focusing on the vital role county businesses play in our local economy, and recognize businesses’ anniversaries and milestones, expansions and more.

Business owners, resource partners, county staff and the Board of County Commissioners are encouraged to take part in this year’s celebration for this week of special events, workshops and networking activities.

Monday, May 6

Calvert County Minority Business Alliance will hold a free discussion titled “How to Propel Your Business Using LinkedIn” 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Harriet Elizabeth Brown Community Center, 901 Dares Beach Road in Prince Frederick.

The presentation will focus on how to increase business revenue by using LinkedIn. Topics include how to customize your profile, how to connect to potential new clients, tips and more. Speaker will be EWC President and Chief Sales Coach Thomas Ellis. The event is sponsored by the Calvert County Minority Business Alliance, and the Calvert County Department of Economic Development

The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners will make site visits to various locations 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with ambassador teams.

A free W2W networking luncheon: Women in Leadership will be held noon to 2 p.m. at the College of Southern Maryland’s Prince Frederick campus, 115 J.W. Williams Road. Speaker Connie Fuksa will share her experiences of being a small business owner for more than 30 years. The event is sponsored by the Calvert County Chamber of Commerce Women to Women Group, Calvert County Department of Economic Development, and the Maryland Small Business Development Center. Calvert County Chamber of Commerce will hold a free business mixer 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Davis, Upton & Palumbo, 132 Main St. in Prince Frederick.

The annual event is open to Calvert County Chamber of Commerce members and business owners.

Calvert Marine Museum will hold its Sixth Annual Crab Pot Pitch contest 6 p.m. at 14200 S. Solomons Island Road in Solomons.
