Fire heavily damaged a St. Leonard home Saturday morning. An investigation into the cause is ongoing.

Crews from several Calvert County volunteer companies responded to a fire Saturday on Turkey Foot Road in St. Leonard.

According to Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department Deputy Chief Jonathan Riffe, the initial call was sounded at 2:20 a.m. for an “outside floodlight on fire.” Crews from the St. Leonard Volunteer Fire Department arrived at the scene to find “fire throughout the house,” Riffe said. “Several attack lines were deployed quickly, knocking down the fire.”

The St. Leonard Volunteer Fire Department reported that there were no injuries as a result of the fire. Two adults and a dog were displaced. The American Red Cross is assisting the occupants.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the incident. A report on the fire from investigators was not available at deadline.
